Additional Data Sets
information on further Digimap data sets that are provided with the product
for your benefit
Supplementary Data
The :\Digimap\Supplayers\
folder contains subfolders with additional data that will enhance the
detail displayed on the base map.
These data sets include:
- Carto Line data
- Land Parcel Supplementary data
- Marine Line data
- Road Center Line Network
- Road Supplementary Lines
- Road Junction Polygons
These data sets can be added to the base map or your own projects by using
the ArcView Add Theme button or the View menu, Add Theme option.
They are not added by default to the digital map as the amount of new
data contained in some themes slows down the performance of display on
lower specification computers.
Public Data
The :\Digimap\Public\ folder contains various subfolders which each in turn contain shapefiles that can be added to the base map.
These include,
- 1996 Census data
- 2001 Census data
- Agricultural Land use
- Antiquities theme
- Cantons
- Cash Machines
- Contours
- Habitat survey
- Doctors Surgeries
- Post Offices
- Telephone Kiosks
- Town Traders data
- Natural Landuse
- SNCI's
- Water Catchment data
- Plus many more
These themes can be added to the base map or your own projects by using the ArcView Add Data button.
Images
The :\Digimap\Images folder contains the Orthophotos plus several new layers for the map:
- 2009 Aerial Photo
- 2006 Aerial Photo
- 2004 Aerial Photo
- 2001 Aerial Photo
- 1996 Aerial Photo
- 1979 Ordnance Survey map
- 1933 Ordnance Survey map
- 1899 Ordnance Survey map
- 1789 Duke of Richmond map
These themes can be added to the base map or your own projects by using the ArcView, Add Theme button or the View menu, Add Theme option.
The images are stored in the .ecw format, this format speeds up the drawing of the photographs and takes less room on your computer. If you want to use these images with your own projects you will need to load the ECW and ERMapper Images extension from the Arcview File menu, Extensions option if you are using Arcmap 3.3.
These new themes can be displayed on the base map to show how the Island has been developed over the years and each map can be turned on or off to drop back in time whilst still displaying current features if you wish. As well as being of great historical interest this feature can also be put to practical use.
Bailiwick Data
If you subscribe to the full Bailiwick data you will also have the :\Digimap\Alderney\ , :\Digimap\Herm_and_Jethou\ and :\Digimap\Sark\ folders installed on your computer.
These contain all the shapefiles and .ecw images for each Island, plus the ArcView project files named, Alderney.apr, Herm.apr and Sark.apr.
These will have been saved to your desktop as shortcuts for you to run the projects from.
