Saint Malo - Vauban

Due to popular demand, the Saint Malo marinas have now been split into 2 separate pages.

The big lock at St Malo that takes you through to the Bassin Vaubin marina (pictured from marina side)


Make sure you have a big loop at the end of your rope. People on land will normally take your rope


Turn left as you come through the lock gates and the marina is in front of you. Larger boats normally go on the right pontoon, although some very large boats may be wall. This is fine but ensure your boat is secure and be aware that the height of the marina does drop a little and so if you are not tied to a pontoon, you need some slack in your ropes


We were moored along side the wall as the marina was pretty full. Located just outside of the walls of Saint Malo


Bureau du Port (right door). The left door is access to the marina toilets and the middle door provides access to the showers (no token required). The sign shows the way to the public toilets


The man in the dinghy comes to meet you as you arrive at the marina


The Tourist Office is right next door to the Bureau du Port and the marina

The Bassin Vauban is accessed through a lock and is right under the walls of Saint Malo.

The river Rance has Plouer marina 6 miles up river, Lyvet by the Chatelier lock and Dinan.

**** Porte St Pierre, Rue St Pierre: Tel 2 99 40 91 27 The menu of €35 including seafood platter. Superb! Good service and ambience. Lady chef and owner Mme Bertonniere, has more rosettes than you can shake a stick at. Near the plage on the West side of town. Accommodation available across the road.

Near the old Rest des Iles -now Berts Bistro) with great ambience and exotic food from €25. A very exciting and booked up restaurant. Phone first.

CANCALE

**** La Mere Champlain. Near the slipway. Tel 2 99 89 60 04. At the home of the oyster, this delightful restaurant always with FRESH oysters available. Plateau de fruits de mer still for €40 -AMAZING!! They even do a €120 version! Worth a taxi ride. Even the €24.50 menu is exciting.

Bakery

Go in through the Grande Porte (not the main gate) - and keep walking straight. About the 2nd shop on the right. We went in through the main gate and it took us 15 mins to find it!

Yacht Club de Dinard
On the food + sailing topic the restaurant of the Yacht Club de Dinard has now reopen.
Knowing the chef, the lunch menu will be competitive and the food very correct. Dinner 35/40 € but in long days May June you can enjoy the sea view and the club atmosphere. Not so many tables so reservation preferably. Denis
